Another sketch for an online crop. My goal: keep it simple and make it masculine. I have several guys birthdays coming up soon and I wanted to get a jump on some cards for them. I'm also working on a class for next month at BSS: a set of masculine cards using Crate paper and I wanted to get some practice making cards that looked "masculine". Not an easy task!

Here's a sketch I worked on last week for an online crop at Scrapbook Star, along with a couple cards I made using the sketch. Love how you can get a totally different look and feel just by changing up papers...too fun! (and what a great way to use up all those extra scraps from a Layout!

Here's the second one. Same basic sketch, just turned on it's side. I used another Paper Bag Studio stamp, which I sponged with distress inks. Then I masked the bench and overstamped with a splatter stamp by All Night Media.I added die cut gold photo corners, tiny little gold flowers by Paper Artsy and inked words by Tim Holtz for Design Originals.

Ah, organization is bliss sometimes. I went through all my unmounted stamps and aranged them in labeled 3 ring binders (14 of them!) All of a sudden I just had to play with my stamps! Here's a new sketch and a card I made with a Paper Bag Studio stamp and a Leave Memories stamp. The frame was stamped on heated fun foam and then decorated with metalic rub ons. The image was sponged with distress inks and the center of the flower is black glass beads. I had so much fun stamping I'm making another one!

I love making handmade cards! I thought it would be a good idea to make a place to post all my card sketches so that I can share them with others. I find looking through sketches really helps me jumpstart the creative process. Half the time the card ends up with absolutely no resemblense to the sketch, but that's all right...
