Christmas is coming!!!

Yeah, I know, there's still more than 3 months, but it's never too early to start working on your Christmas cards. Here's a few I came up with over he past few weeks, playing around with my stamps, prisma pencils and water coloring with distress inks: Ahh, tis the season! :)

Nestabilities - a card makers best friend

Here's a couple cards I made tonight for my daughter using the round and rectangle nestabilities. They're the perfect die cut for layering...I can't wait till the new label ones are available!

Quick and easy!

How sweet are these journaling books by Making Memories? I fell in love the second they were delivered to the store and had to have it! But honestly, how many layouts do I want to make with these sheets? The book comes with 6 designs...30 sheets in all. Then it dawned on me...4X6? That's the perfect size for cards! Oh, and that ribbon..Yummy, little puffs of soft chenelle...love it! So here they are:

Been a while...

Wow, it's been quite some time since I've posted cards or sketches. Here's a few cards and sketches that I've gotten done in the past couple of months. Now that the craziness of the holidays is behind us, I'm hoping to get to some serious card making!

August's online crop sketch

Here's the card sketch for august. Super simple sketch, and very versatile. I was inspired by this three paned stamp by Magenta. I love my copic markers, so much fun to play with!

Primas+RicRac

Here's this month's card sketch for an online crop at ScrapbookStar. I love these embossed primas, so fun to layer! So, is it spelled RicRac, RikRak or RicRak?..I never can remember...

Guy card

Another sketch for an online crop. My goal: keep it simple and make it masculine. I have several guys birthdays coming up soon and I wanted to get a jump on some cards for them. I'm also working on a class for next month at BSS: a set of masculine cards using Crate paper and I wanted to get some practice making cards that looked "masculine". Not an easy task!

New sketch...and cards to go with it

Here's a sketch I worked on last week for an online crop at Scrapbook Star, along with a couple cards I made using the sketch. Love how you can get a totally different look and feel just by changing up papers...too fun! (and what a great way to use up all those extra scraps from a Layout!

Same sketch, different look

Here's the second one. Same basic sketch, just turned on it's side. I used another Paper Bag Studio stamp, which I sponged with distress inks. Then I masked the bench and overstamped with a splatter stamp by All Night Media.I added die cut gold photo corners, tiny little gold flowers by Paper Artsy and inked words by Tim Holtz for Design Originals.

Organized my stamps...

Ah, organization is bliss sometimes. I went through all my unmounted stamps and aranged them in labeled 3 ring binders (14 of them!) All of a sudden I just had to play with my stamps! Here's a new sketch and a card I made with a Paper Bag Studio stamp and a Leave Memories stamp. The frame was stamped on heated fun foam and then decorated with metalic rub ons. The image was sponged with distress inks and the center of the flower is black glass beads. I had so much fun stamping I'm making another one!

Why?

I love making handmade cards! I thought it would be a good idea to make a place to post all my card sketches so that I can share them with others. I find looking through sketches really helps me jumpstart the creative process. Half the time the card ends up with absolutely no resemblense to the sketch, but that's all right...
